This is a fantastic annual event that Julie and I very much look forward to.
A great, usually scenic hike and really nice people.

Julie and I were out here earlier in 2013. That hike is documented HERE.

The Spring 2013 KTC Swale Canyon hike is documented HERE.

The KTC 2011 Swale Canyon hike is documented HERE.

More information about the entire Klickitat Rail Trail can be found HERE.

GETTING THERE: Take SR 14 to Lyle, Washington. Turn North at the Lyle Cafe onto
Centerville Highway. Go 14.72 miles and turn left onto Harms road. The trailhead is
about a half mile down the road.

CAR SHUTTLE SERVICES: Note that we have not used thie service yet so we cannot
vouch for them in any way. If/when we do try them out, we will post an update
on future trip reports. The shuttle is provided by Carl Coolidge, owner of the
Canyon Market, Klickitat, Washington. 509-369-4400:

Tough neighborhood.... about 7 1/2 miles into this hike, someone up on the North
slope punched out a half dozen or so rounds. The first couple of shots were fired
by someone who was fairly close. Sounded like a small bore gun... possibly a .22 rifle.
There are "no hunting" signs all over the place and it's all private property up there
so I'm guessing the shooter was sending us a message. Not that my 1911 would be much
help but it's a remote area out here and I wouldn't want to get killed for lack of
being able to shoot back. Since I have a Washington carry permit I will most likely
be packing on future hikes out here.

A great hike deserves a great dinner so it's off to the Gorge Panda. There are
more pictures of this hike HERE and HERE.
