Kind of a crappy day weather-wise... but the museum turned out to be a lot better
than we anticipated. And Julie picked up a fast gig as spokesmodel for the "Better
Farms and Tractors" magazine people who were there.
We did ride out to Willamina with the intention of going to Niagra Falls in Blaine,
Oregon... but... couldn't find the access road and the weather kept looking worse
the further West we went. So... that will have to be a ride for another day.
I grew up in Boston and rode trolley cars pretty much every day of my life until I
went into the Military. I remember the old wooden street cars that used to run up and
down Dorchester Avenue when I was little. And they really did only cost a nickel to ride!
Sergeant Dilligaf missed a good time walking around all of this heavy equipment.
Caterpillar has an antique Caterpiller equipment museum here!
I also grew up to trackless trolleys all over the place. These have seen better
days and most likely are destined for the scrap heap...
Here's an old circa 1940's PCC streetcar that was very popular and abundant when
I was riding them to school in Boston.
The Car and Motorcycle museum on the grounds have this 1940 Graham which was a car
that was WAY ahead of it's time. Interestingly, it was not popular because most
people viewed it as being "too radical". America is certainly a different place
70 years later.....
They've got this pretty authentic looking old Texaco filling station replica
set up there. You can trust your car to the man who wears the star, right?
Here's a couple of retired 1950's era American LaFrance Fire Trucks. This place
has everything!
Here's a 1947 Cushman scooter that was made the same year that I was. I wonder
which of us is in the better condition?
A 1944 World War II Army issue 74 CI flathead Indian motorcycle.
