This was a Mazama-led hike to the seldom visited Cedar Mountain. We have been all
over this (Table Mountain) area and didn't even know there was a Cedar Mountain here.

GETTING THERE: This hike starts at the traditional Aldrich Butte trailhead described HERE.

As detailed in the above link, when you get to Carpenter Lake (which is just a flat
marshland since the beavers left and the lake dried up....)... you'll turn left and
go up the hill towards Aldrich Butte. About half the way up (approx 0.5 mile) take
the second fork to the right that you come across. This is a wide turn off and hard
to miss.

About a half mile down this trail, you'll see a trail leading downhill. This one
goes to Cedar Falls (sort of....). I'll attach a GPS track but we will need to return
here to fully document this hike with lots of details, pictures and waypoints. Our
hike today with the Mazamas was mostly intended to be a "scouting mission" so that
we'd be able to find the falls and Cedar Mountain on our own. This was a nice 9.5 mile
hike (although it could be done in about three less miles if you don't take the
scenic routes....)

We returned two weeks later... pictures of that hike are HERE.

Cedar Falls.

We were above the clouds for most of this hike. That's the town of North Bonneville down below.

A lot of this hike is in deep forest, although there are a few nice viewpoints.

This is the view from Cedar Mountain summit. You actually get better views for
a lot less effort at the top of Aldrich Butte. Still...it's a fairly remote mountain
top and sees very few visitors.

There's a nice clearing up here for a sunny lunch break.

The actual Cedar Mountain summit is several hundred feet higher than this point.
But this is the only clearing with a view so we called it "close enough".

Hiking along the top of Cedar Mountain you get a pretty good view of Table Mountain.

And Sacagawea and Papoose rocks.

One last look at Cedar Falls.

When we return (which should be soon), I'll update these maps and tracks with
much better information.
